About the Author
Godfree received his doctorate in Education from UMass Amherst and subsequently suffered an agonizing 12-month bout of Meralgia Paresthetica. Forced to travel the world in search of relief, he diligently kept notes on everything that he did and learned from a wide variety of healers – conventional and alternative. This book is about pain management, and specifically about the pain of Meralgia Paresthetica, how Dr. Roberts made a full recovery, and how you can, too.

Curing Meralgia Paresthetica

Godfree Roberts book has helped tremendously. I have a wonderful Dr. of Neurology. He has prescribed the same meds as mentioned by Godfree Roberts. I have had this pain since I was preteen age. It has gotten worse over the years, until my Doctor diagnosed it. Until then, my pain had no definition. Now it is bearable, and it has a name.
I hope this book helps others.

Although my meralgia paresthetica is milder than the author's was, the information, especially the exercises, lengthy discussion of possible causes and all kinds of treatments, was helpful. My neurologist was skeptical about the advice to not walk. I found I had pain after walking, but also felt better after doing some kind of exercise, either walking or swimming. A bit more pain afterwards was worth knowing my body still worked. Lots of information invaluable to someone diagnosed with this apparently very common condition -- though several doctor friends I mentioned it to had never heard of it. Go figure.

Comprehensive understanding of what you are facing

This is definitely a good book to have for people that have been recently diagnosed. Although of course most of the information is available on the internet, when you have a pervasive condition you don't want to troll the internet every time you are looking for an answer. I knew a lot of this information from practice, but to be quite frank, I think a lot of patients with any illness such as this are looking for validation. No, I'm not going crazy, yes putting a pillow between my knees does help. My nerve damage occurred after a DaVinci surgery to remove a kidney, which occurred some time ago. Most of this book is focused on the recently-diagnosed; hopefully short-term conditions. My case is a little different being chronic in nature at this point, but I still found some helpful ideas. When you have a pervasive illness, a community of like-minded individuals is always helpful and comforting.
