Best periodic table I've ever used

The periodic table of elements and constant sheet is so convenvient, reliable, easy to use, color coded..and LAMINATED (water proof!). The table even has the electron configurations of the elements! How great is that? The constant sheet is very clear and is organized very well. All you ever need for homework, studying, chemistry admiration etc. is on this sheet! Buy it now, you'll have no regrets and you can use it for numerous subjects, not just chem!

Handle with caution

This lamination gave me a particularly nasty paper cut which needed to be treated with an alcohol solution (note: this information was NOT provided by the table).

All the information in this table can be found on the front and back covers of any introductory chemistry textbook. Is the convenience of not having to flip back and forth between the two most accessible pages in the book worth 8 dollars?

This is the best periodic table ever.

This is pretty much the best periodic table I've ever used. Seriously.
If you're a college student, or even not a college student, and are even remotely interested in chemistry, you should buy this periodic table.
It has everything you need to get along in life. Literally. Ha.
I'm pretty sure without this periodic table, I'd be lost.
Aaaand it's laminated! I mean, how awesome is that? You can keep it forever!!

Title is a bit misleading!

This book DOES NOT teach you audio basics such as audio theory. Nor is it aimed at "seasoned" audiophiles with an interest in recording or "Live" sound. None of that is in this book. "Well, what's it good for"? you may ask. While this book is not intended to be a Reference book this book is great if you're a service technician that works on consumer audio equipment. It does a GREAT JOB on giving you troubleshhoting tips and procedures and a little bit of theory on the operation and servicing of CD players, DATs, AM/FM receivers(the audio sections only,not RF) and VHS HI-FI VCR's (Remember those?).

Beyond that, that's about it. If you're into recording or want a more "advanced" book on audio theory such as the basics of microphone operation, different types of connectors, mixers, or any other "professional", look for "Understanding Audio" by Daniel M. Thompson or any other book that concentrates on that subject.

That said I must also point out that John D.Lenk IS a foremost authority when it comes to troubleshooting and repair and I would advise anyone in the electronics service field to read as many of his books that you can get your hands on. I personally own most of them and I love them.

Good practical advice. Not math heavy. A bit dated now, but the theory of amplifier circuits has not changed much at all, so quite a bit is still very useful.

clearly written book

This is a clearly written book that presents Taguchi's ideas on quality control. Explained nicely is the loss function of Taguchi that has become so popular. Also, discussed in detail are models for online quality control, tolerancing, and preventive maintenance. (This book is not about Taguchi's celebrated work on design of experiments.) Although some theory appears to be heuristically derived, what needs to be pointed out here is that some of these methods have been used in Toyota! So there is a clear value to reading about them. One would think this would be mandatory reading for a graduate course on quality control, but instead the book has gone out of print! When I was a graduate student, I was really lucky to have a professor who used this book as a text book.

About the Author
Chantel Acevedo's first novel, Love and Ghost Letters, won the Latino International Book Award and was a finalist for the Connecticut Book of the Year. Song of the Red Cloak, a historical novel for young adults, was published in 2011. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in Prairie Schooner, American Poetry Review, North American Review, and Chattahoochee Review, among others. Acevedo is currently an Associate Professor of English and Alumni Writer-in-Residence at Auburn University, where she founded the Auburn Writers Conference and edits the Southern Humanities Review.

I grew up in Miami and although it's been thirty years, this book put me back in there in so many visceral ways--with sounds, smells, and sights that jumped off the page. And what a moving and incredible ending! I stayed up way too late to finish it then sighed when I was done because I missed it as soon as I closed the book.

A beautifully rendered tale that throws light on the impact of repression and the avenues some travel to find freedom. Chantel Acevedo's, A Falling Star, paints vivid images of a few people who fled Cuba during the Mariel Boatlift of 1980 and traded the difficulties of life at "home" for new life in America. But there is always a price to be paid for life lived in exile, even self-imposed exile. There are triumphs and losses. A Falling Star shows the reader some of both, as well as the middle ground of ordinary people trying to live ordinary lives. In the process of telling her characters' stories, Acevedo allows us a glimpse of some of the internal and external forces that caused some Cubans to choose exile during the historic Boatlift and a few years following. The book is well written with enough mystery, drama, and suspense to make it a very satisfying read. The narrative shifts between the perspectives of several characters, which allows the reader insights into the hearts and minds of the characters and their struggles. The ending is a well-executed surprise. I highly recommend the novel.

Chantel Acevedo has managed to craft a haunting tale of family, identity and personal decisions, all within the backdrop of the Mariel Boatlift (based in part on a true story she heard years ago). The characters seem real and although some of the events that drive the story may seem incredible (I really don't want to give away the details), the story works and flows well. I would also agree with another reviewer who mentions feeling that they were back in Miami -- that is definitely the case. But above all, I think it is Ms. Acevedo's talent with characters that stands out. I am looking forward to reading her next book!
