disappointment

so awful. I usually loveee Lietha Wards, but this was just bad. Her last book was pretty bad to, but I tried to give this one a chance. I was even willing to pay the 3 dollars for a book less than 200 pages, which I never do. Lately her books feel like they are being written by someone else. There is just no climax. Basically its guy sees girl, falls in love, they get married. There really wasnt any sort of conflict. I just feel like nothing interesting happened.

Romance isn't always easy

Mark is a hockey player who enjoyed playing the field until he spied Selena at a game. Although she is a model, she has been sheltered by her brother, Marcus. Mark's team and Marcus' team are bitter enemies. When Marcus learns about Mark's interest in his sister, the animosity becomes even worse. Selena is torn between her angry brother and tenacious, but sometimes clueless, Mark. Eventually there is a HEA ending.
I enjoyed this book enough to look up Lietha Wards and discovered that this series was written in 2011 with a ranch setting. It has evolved into a hockey themed series with separate books about Mark's teammates, Micah, Tyler, and Dutch.

Well worth the wait.

I cruise Lietha's page from time to time to see if a new book went up and last week it was a "one click" moment. It was wonderful to be once again immersed in a great story with characters that one has become familiar with in the Wild series. The lead characters were likeable as well as the story line. It was a great read after a long work day.

This collection of essays, written by international film and television scholars, provides detailed critical analysis of the issues surrounding judgements of cultural value and taste, feeling and affect, cultural morals and politics, research methodologies and teaching strategies in the new landscape of ‘after taste’ media. Julia Vassilieva teaches Film and Television Studies at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She is an author of Re-thinking the Experience of Immigration: From Loss to Gain (2010). She has published articles in a variety of journals, including Film-Philosophy, Senses of Cinema, Rouge, Cinema Studies, The New International Journal of Humanities and contributed as an editor to Transcultural Studies: A Series in Interdisciplinary Research.

A superb classic in harmonic analysis.

This book deals with the extension of real and complex methods in harmonic analysis to the many-dimensional case. So, its pre-requisites are a strong background in real and complex analysis and some acquaintance with elementary harmonic analysis, that is, this book is intended for graduate students and working mathematicians. Maybe some advanced undergraduates could cover certain parts of the material.
This book is one component of the Stein trilogy on harmonic analysis (together with "Singular Integrals and Differentiability Properties of Functions" and "Harmonic Analysis", both also reviewed by myself), and as such it must be regarded as an authoritative reference on the subject since Elias Stein and Guido Weiss are two of the leading experts in the field, and the material they selected was taken from their teaching and research experience.
The contents of the book are: The Fourier Transform; Boundary Values of Harmonic Functions; The Theory of H^p Spaces on Tubes; Symmetry Properties of the Fourier Transform; Interpolation of Operators; Singular Integrals and Systems of Conjugate Harmonic Functions; Multiple Fourier Series.
Includes motivation and full explanations for each topic, excercises for each chapter, called "further results", and extensive references. Outstanding printing quality and nice clothbound.
These three volumes should be present in every analyst's library.

Fourier analysis involving derivatives, dilations, and rotations

This book covers those parts of harmonic analysis that genuinely depend on Euclidean space. The Fourier transform of Borel measures, convolution, the Fourier inversion theorem, and Plancherel's theorem, and the relation to the Gelfand theory of Banach algebras are understood most clearly in the category of locally compact abelian groups. In LCA groups a group and its Pontryagin dual are different objects, unlike in Euclidean space where these are identified. But in Euclidean space, beyond translation like we have for LCA groups, we also have derivatives and dilations and rotations, and can use harmonic functions and the residue theorem from complex analysis.

The chapter I like the best is Chapter IV, about rotations and functions on the unit sphere in n-dimensions. This involves radial functions, Bessel functions, homogeneous polynomials. There is a proof of Hecke's identity as Theorem 3.4, which is a formula for the Fourier transform of the product of a homogeneous harmonic polynomial and a Gaussian. I also like Chapter VII, about Fourier series in n variables ("multiple Fourier series").

Concise, quick resource material for special tests.

With the voluminous amount of "special tests" out there, this book is a concise, quick resource material to gauge effectivity of common orthopedic tests employed. As mentioned, it is evidence based and it grades the tests for merit regarding its sensitivity/specificity in ruling in/out specific orthopedic conditions. The book includes step by step written instruction with pictures in performing the tests to standardize the procedure. It also includes CD for reference.

Great book

This book gets straight to the point and pours over numerous conditions and what examination or cluster of examination techniques have been proven to test what they are supposed to test. Many of the best evidence based examination tests shown in this book unfortunately are probably hardly ever used. I look forward to using this book from now on.

This an excellent evidence based orthopedic resource reference guide, on par with Cyriax's texts. It was indispensible text for completing my (DPT) Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy. The specificty, sensitivity, liklihood ratios, and clusters provided enable a clinician to confirm with confidence a diagnosis and appropriate intervention strategy to acheive a good functional outcome in the majority of patients. I use it daily!
