About the Author
Norbert Wolf graduated in art history, linguistics and medieval studies at the universities of Regensburg and Munich, and earned his PhD in 1983. He held visiting professorships in Marburg, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Nuremberg-Erlangen, and Innsbruck. His extensive writings on art history include many TASCHEN titles, such as Diego Velázquez, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Caspar David Friedrich, Expressionism, Romanesque, Landscape Painting and Symbolism.

I ordered this book for an introductory art history class and it was a very helpful aid in studying the Expressionist movement. The info and visuals of the paintings are great.

A Basic Art Book

Very good this book about German Expressionism, an influent movement in Modern and Contemporary Art. Specially the paintings are very well analised by the author, after a brief introducing about the movement's history. The painting's pictures reproduction is superb, the book very well edited.

Great Little Book!

This is one of the best books on Expressionism. It doesn't go into a lot of detail but enough
so that you get a good idea of the period and quite a few of the artists. I would recommend this
book to anyone wanting to get a taste of Expressionism.
